The Dutch Canadian Choir is an amateur mixed choir that seeks to celebrate Dutch and Canadian culture through music.

We are a non-profit four-voice [SATB] choir. The choir is currently under the direction of Jane Moran and accompanied by Gaylene Hennan.

The choir performs at various special events throughout Calgary including semi-annual concerts and performances at seniors lodges and nursing homes. The choir has travelled to many places in Alberta, Canada, the United States and Europe.

Membership is open to anyone (regardless of nationality) over the age of eighteen.

  • Music Director

    Jane Moran was born in Newfoundland. Jane moved to Calgary in 2003 to pursue her love of music and education.

    Jane has been directing high school choirs and bands, community choirs and church choirs for 20 years in Calgary.

    She began directing The Dutch Canadian Choir in 2018. This has continued to be a joyful experience filled with music, laughter and friendships.

    Jane studied music and education at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Berklee College of Music of Boston, University of Calgary, St. Mary’s University and Gonzaga University of Washington.

  • Accompanist


    Gaylene Hennan has been the accompanist for the Dutch Canadian choir for the past 21 years.

    Through the years, she has accompanied many choirs throughout Calgary and has been the pianist in several churches.

    She taught piano for 30 years but her true passion lies in accompanying soloists and choirs.
